Questions raised about FCA’s focus on non-financial misconduct

The UK market regulator is investigating a single case of non-financial misconduct, raising some doubts about how strong its appetite is for tackling behavioural issues such as workplace sexual harassment.

Statistics provided by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in response to a Freedom of Information Act request show the agency opened one case in 2018, five in 2019 and none in 2020, leaving just one matter on its books as of 23 December 2020.
